Tangling on Stones

Dear Tanglers,

this weekend we had a lovely little Zentangle meet-up here in Hamburg (again thanks to my lovely colleague and namesake Anya Ipsen). During this event we learned – among many other things – how to tangle on stones.

Aren’t they beautiful? I especially love the colors!

So, how is this done? It’s not that difficult. All you will need is:

  • Zentagle Steine 3a smooth stone
  • an Edding 1800
  • spray varnish
  • Polychromos or Prismacolor pencils for the colors

 

I shaded my stone (the long one) with a dark grey Polychromos pencil. It works wonderfully well! And you can also even add highlights with a white pencil.

When you’re done, fix your drawing with the spray.

You can use different markers, but be sure to test your marker-varnish-combination, as some markers may run.

Weight loss through Zentangle Part III – Buy my Opus tile!

Merry Christmas, everyone! 

It’s been a while since I completed my Weight Loss Opus tile and I wanted to take this opportunity to not only show it off but also give you the chance to get it. That’s right! I’m selling the tile on eBay!

I started this project a while ago in order to lose that little bit of extra weight I just didn’t like on myself. So whenever I felt hungry but just knew it wasn’t really possible (because I had just eaten), I went and tangled instead (time permitting). The result was not only a 3 pounds lighter me, but also my very first Opus tile. It’s huge and it’s beautiful! 

Here it is:

I tangled the whole tile with an 01 Micron, shaded with pencil, and then added a few highlights with Gelly Roll at the end.

I’m glad I actually managed to catch the glittery effect on the photographs! 🙂

Now, I announced before that I am selling this tile. As of right now you can find it on ebay.de – Item number: 201488386732. It will be on sale until New Years Eve, 11:00 am. And since it is Christmas time, I will be donating the proceeds to a charity organization helping refugees here in Hamburg.

a few weeks ago I told you about a little experiment I started: Weight loss through Zentangle. Today I’d like to tell you a bit about my experiences so far.

As you can see from the photographs, I haven’t tangled quite as much as I had hoped. The problem seems to be that I usually want to eat when I’m busy doing something else – which makes it hard to go and tangle! And sometimes I just plain forget.
