Dear Tanglers!
Summer is finally here! So I’ll be taking a little break and decided to prepare my post a bit earlier this time. I picked a pattern for this months Pattern Mixer that just reeks of summer. I drew the tile and prepared the blog post and had everything ready to go when this weeks’s (last week’s to you) Diva Challenge rolled into my mailbox. Unfortunately, her guest blogger picked the exact same pattern that I did: Tropicana. Must be the heat or something! 😀
Anyhow, I’ve decided not to cancel the whole thing but instead to show those Divas that we can do it better! Ha! To accompany Tropicana, there’s a great official pattern that I’ve somehow never really gotten around to using before.
Oh, and next month will be the 10th Pattern Mixer already! We’re planning to give away a goody to a random participator, so don’t miss it!
Today’s patterns are:
First time for the challenge? You can find the rules here.
Here’s my entry for this month:
ATTENTION, please! While all tiles submitted in the last months were stunningly beautiful, there seems to have been some confusion about pattern mixing. Just drawing two patterns next to each other on a tile is called a Duo Tangle (and it can definitely be worth your while), but when we mix patterns, we go one step further. Pattern mixing means to merge two tangles, to intertwine them or even create a new tangle from the combination. I’ve drawn up a few examples for you here. Mixing patterns is not easy and you might even want to collect a few ideas or do a few sketches first. But it’s a real booster to yor creativity and it’s – well, a challenge!
