Sucht jemand eine Herausforderung? Ich habe eine gefunden. Das Tanglemuster 8’s von der Amerikanerin Jane Eileen Malone treibt mich in den Wahnsinn! Das Muster selbst ist nicht so schwer, nur braucht man dafür ein ziemlich genaues Raster. Und da wir ja beim Zentangle weder mit Bleistift vorzeichnen noch Lineale benutzen, habe ich eben den Ehrgeiz, das Raster gleich mit dem Sakura-Stift zu machen. Und es ist wirklich schwer!!

Wenn das Raster einmal steht, kann man die tollsten Sachen damit machen! Ein wirklich geniales Zentangle-Muster, das extrem variabel ist und viel Spaß macht. Wer es einmal probieren möchte, kann sich hier die Anleitung anschauen. Dann gibt es aber auch noch ein paar Variationen dazu: Parte Dos und Parte Tres/Quatro. Ich habe auf meiner Kachel Partes Dos und Tres verwendet.

Are you looking for a challenge? I’ve found one! Tanglepattern 8’s by Jane Eileen Malone is driving me crazy! The pattern itself isn’t all that difficult, but you need to get the grid exactly right, so that it will look good in the end. And since Zentangle doesn’t use rulers or pencil grids I’m trying to get it right the first time – using only my Sakura pen. And gee, it is hard to do!

Once you’ve gotten the grid right, you can do really fantastic stuff with this pattern. It’s really versatile and a lot of fun! If you’d like to give it a try, check out the step-outs here. There are also a few tangleations or variations called Parte Dos and Parte Tres/Quatro.

KELT – A New Tangle Pattern – Ein neues Tangle Muster

Heute möchte ich euch ein neues Zentangle-Muster vorstellen: Kelt.

Ich habe eine Zeit lang sehr gerne mit keltischen Mustern herumgespielt. Celtic1 Celtic2Da gibt es die wunderschönsten Sachen und es macht auch wirklich Spaß. Allerdings sind die meisten keltischen Muster nicht für Zentangle geeignet, weil sie viel zu komplex sind und der sorgfältigen Planung bedürfen. (Wer es trotzdem einmal ausprobieren möchte, dem kann ich den CelticGoldsmith wärmstens empfehlen.)

Mein Muster Kelt ist der denkbar einfachste keltische Knoten: Er besteht nur aus 2 Strängen und kann somit auch ohne Vorzeichnung und Winkelmessung gezeichnet werden – das macht es ideal fürs Tangeln.

Das Muster im Hintergrund ist übrigens Brax von der unglaublich talentierten Australierin Helen Williams. Wie man sieht, tue ich mich damit noch etwas schwer. Also: Demnächst wird Brax geübt!

Today I’d like to introduce a new Zentangle pattern that I created. It’s called Kelt.

A little while ago I discovered Celtic knots and was really fascinated by them. Celtic2 Celtic1They are so much fun to draw! Unfortunately, most Celtic patterns aren’t really usable for Zentangle, as they are too complex and require quite a bit of planning. (If you’d like to try, I warmly recommend the CelticGolsmith.)

My pattern Kelt is the easiest possible Celtic knot: It’s made up of just two strands, so it can be drawn without prior sketching or measuring of angles – and that makes it ideal for Zentangle!

In case you’re wondering: The pattern in the background is Brax by the extremely talented Aussi Helen Williams. Obviously though, it’s not one of my stronger patterns. Oh well, that can be changed. I hereby vow: I shall practice Brax!

Hotel Providence

Das Hotel Providence in Providence, Rhode Island – Kultort für so manchen CZT. Hier finden die CZT-Seminare statt, bei denen Rick und Maria ihren Nachwuchs heranzüchten. Die Bierdeckel des Hotels eignen sich hervorragend zum Betangeln – sie haben genau das gleiche Format wie eine Zentangle-Kachel! Und so hängt im Flur auch ein Bilderrahmen voll mit diesen Bierdeckeln, die bei Seminar XY betangelt worden sind.Auf dem Seminar bin ich leider nicht dazu gekommen – und auch danach irgendwie nicht. Aber heute war es endlich so weit: Endlich hat mein Hotel Providence-Bierdeckel seine lang verdiente Verzierung erhalten.

Hotel Providence in Providence, RI, is a place that most CZTs think fondly of. It’s the place where Maria and Rick give their CZT seminars. The hotel’s beer coasters have been used for tangling on more than one occasion. There is even a picture frame in the hallway with about 80 of them, sporting the most beautiful tangles – a souvenir from CZT seminar #XYZ.
