Zen-Sewing part 2!

Dear Tanglers!

As some of you might know, not only do I love Zentangle. SewZen2I’m also a passionate quilter and sewer (and knitter, and crocheter, and painter…). If you’re interested, take a look at my first try at Zen Quilting here.

Unfortunately, my lovely sewing machine has been gathering a lot of dust over the past year, since I just didn’t have any time for sewing. About half a year ago, I did cut out the fabric pieces for a sweater I wanted to sew for myself. So when I finished working on my third book last month I decided I’d give myself a treat and finally sew my sweater. And it turned out lovely!! Yaaayyy!!! And it’s even got chameleons!! 😉

But what, some of you may be asking themselves, does this have to do with Zentangle?

SewZen3Easy: Just take a look at my right shoulder… Yes, right up there! See it? Look familiar?

Here’s the story: Unfortunaltely, when I was adding the cuff on the neck and hood, some of the shoulder fabric slipped under the serger… and I can see those of you who’ve used a serger cringing. You see: The serger not only does beautiful seams, it also cuts off the excess fabric. To make a long story short: My lovely sweater had a little whole in the shoulder when it was finished.

What to do? Fix it, of course. In the best way I could think of: add a Zentangle pattern. So I hand-embroidered this beautiful pattern right over the whole. Lovely! There you go. Zentangle just makes everything more beautiful (including Helmets)!! 🙂

So. Now for the best part: I’m giving a way a tile from my second magazine to a lucky winner! Just answer this question: Which Zentangle pattern inspired this embroidery? (It’s somewhat of a tangleation). Just write the answer in the comments section (by June 21st, 23:59 p.m.) and maybe you’ll be the lucky winner of this tile:

By the way, this magazine will be, again, published as a book. And as far as I know, there will also be an English version again! 🙂

Anyhow, good luck and keep tangling!
